Okay, I haven't really read any manga for about five months, six months. I used to read Ranma 1/2 (I'm on about the fifth book), Fullmetal Alchemist (second book), Naruto (fourth or fifth book), and Inuyasha (idk if I spelt that right; I'm on the fourth book or so). I also used to read Shonen Jump; I stopped buying them around last year. I also used to buy Shojo Beat, but stopped buying those as well about March of this year.
If you're an avid manga fan, you know that there's a lot of different titles out there. I want to know what you read! What would you recommend to me? Also, are there any manga magazines out there that are similar to Shonen Jump/Shojo Beat (and in English)? Thank you!

Pick up a few classics, I'm reading Charles Dickens' Great expectations and enjoying the hell out of it. Sci-fi is good too. Try Asimov, Zebrowski(not real famous but his book The Omega Point is awesome), and Heinlein.

i think we may like simular types of manga (based on your info)
i really recomend the series nana which is part of shojo beat but it has kinda a lot of sex in it. there are currently 4 volumes out i think.
i also recomend D.N. Angel, Fruits Basket, Black Cat.
there are tons of manga out there! just go to book stores and pick one out.
