It really depends on what you mean by "best", but if it's based on location and service then I have a couple of suggestions from having lived in Charlotte and stayed in both:

Downtown/"Uptown": Weston
It's new, hip, great bar, and in the middle of everything

South: Ballantyne Resort
I've been here a number of times - original art, golf next door, great restaurant, and terrific service

These two are by far the best, and overall suggest the Westin due to location.

Is downtown. Near fun activities, many restaurants, clubs, carriage rides, museums, ect.!


Hyatt Charlotte at Southpark
5501 Carnegie
Charlotte, NC.
Hordes of restaurants within 2 miles of the hotel. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the mall, which is near by.

I dont know what sort of things you like...if you are into fancy hotel or not..i just want a clean room, good ac and good cable
I stay in the microtel by the airport when i go to charlotte
it around 50 -60 bucks on a regular weekend, around 75 if there is a nascar race, or around 35 bucks during a regular week day

If you are going to see a Panther's game it is most certainly the Westin. Walking distance to the stadium and a great hotel. Other than that, can't help.
