i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I can understand sad because his passing left a tremendous void in all of our hearts. I don't understand how anyone can be mad though, albeit that is a bit selfish don't you think. Death is certainly a part of life and we must remember that. I am truly thankful that this entertaining creature came into our lives. We are fortunate enough through videos, television, etc. that he will always be entertaining, he will always be his hyper lively self, and he will always be in our hearts and our lives. He's left behind a most magnificent legacy within his work, his family, and his fans. I believe that he was out of his element, however, had he died at the jaws of a crocodile, I can only imagine that quite a bit of the shock factor would have been removed and replaced with, "Well you had to know that was going to happen." It's just a matter of time for all of us.
R.I.P. Steve, you were and will always remain a great bloke!
Thank you, thank you so much for all you've taught us! Indeed gone too soon and will be terribly missed.

I am sad. Although some of his "stunts" with animals were questionable, I still admire him for doing what he loved best; working with animals and making sure that they are around for generations to come.
His death shocked me but at the same time, it didn't surprise me. It didn't surprise me that he died from an animal. What shocked me was that it wasn't an angry croc or a cobra but a seemingly harmless stingray. Stingrays are known as the "pussycats of the sea" but they defend themselves if threatened. Their poisonous barb is usually thrust into someone's leg or arm but it does have the punch to puncture someone's chest cavity as in the case with Steve Irwin.
Steve's reputation as a guy who works with dangerous animals brings him closer and closer to death; it wasn't a matter of IF he was going to die but a matter of WHEN. With the exception of the "baby Bob" incident, Steve has earned my respect as a man who truly cares about animals, not just the cute and furry kitty cats that most men detest but other species of animals like reptiles, birds, fish, etc.
I believe that God put Steve on this earth to educate us all about His beautiful and wonderous creations of animals and how to respect them (i.e. stay away from deadly snakes, spiders, etc).
RIP Steve. Terri, Bindi, and Bob, you are in my thoughts and my prayers.

It was shocking to see that a stingray killed him I would have thought that somthing like a shark or a crocodile would have done it? He was a great guy and I bet his daughter is heart broken.

I'm shocked =0, yet not surprised :I. To be perfectly honest, I could've sworn a croc would do him in. I'm not saying I'm not sad. I really liked him, too. That dude was really one with nature, and was a hero to many people, including me.
