This girl at school thinks I'm her good friend, and along with my group, she doesn't have anyone else (small school). None of my friends like her either, but we don't know the best way to help her. She's very needy, insecure, and not at all confident. She needs to back away for a while and become a bit more independent; what's the best way for us to push her in this direction without hurting her?

instead of pushing her away why don't you just help her out . we aren't perfect and we all have our own insecurities and if you needed help would'nt you want someone to help you instead of turning there backs. tell her what you do to not be insecure about the things that she is.

There is no best way to do that. If you care about this girl at all, you need to be her friend. The best way to make her feel secure is to complement her on genuine things. The best way to destroy her is to push her into backing away and becoming more independent. You have a choice here...you can make a big difference.

Don't push her away.

Befriend her and make her part of your group. Think how confident she will become!

Why don't your friends like her ?

You do, or else you wouldn't be asking us for advice.

I had a friend like that. She would get mad when I didn't call her back in a certain time. I had to slowly stop talking to her. I didn't like that clingy gay sh*t and it had to stop. Just let her know that she is getting on your nerves and that she needs to change before it ruins your friendship.
