Water has a higher specific gravity (S.G.= 1.000) than vegetable oil (S.G.= ~ 0.9). All commonly found room temperature liquids can be measured for this quality of specific gravity. The lower the number, the lighter the liquid.

Oil floats on water so it is less dense. For an equal volume the water will be heavier.

water cuz if both are poured into a container water sinks down and oil covers the top or forms the layer at the top

pour both in a container and see which one sinks. The one that sinks is the heavier.
