It doesn't matter what number a person chooses......
It matters what number you tell them to add to it....
the answer will always be half of the number you told them to add.

It all has to do with "canceling" out numbers.....you said multiply....then add the special number....then divide (that cancels out the multiplication, and divides your special number in half) and then you subtract the remainder from the original number....leaving you with half of your special number!!! :)

Someone in my family showed me that trick a while back! I love it! Some people really can't figure it out for a while...they will ask you to do it over and over again till they finally catch on.

That was a pretty simple algebra trick. I've done harder ones in 4th grade, but it's decent, and most people wouldn't understand how you did it.
