Well I use EBay and I've had my account for 3 years and I've learned to read each and every detail before buying anything. And I haven't had any problems with my account. So the best advice I can give to you is to make sure you read over the details of any product before buying it. And if you have to buy any electronics on eBay make sure that it is tested, in new packaging, and has a warranty. Also make sure the seller has 99-100% positive buyer feedback and never buy from a seller that has only had their account less than a year. And try not to get comfortable buying things from eBay with a money order or check if at all possible use pay-pal cause the pay-pal account comes with insurance and if a seller tries to rip you off you can always put in a dispute against the seller and pay-pal will make sure you receive a full refund.

I have never had a bad experience with eBay and I've bought a lot of things. I have also never had a bad experience with Amazon or Abe Books or Books a Million and am extremely happy with my online shopping experiences.

Yes, I had one, early on. the seller was a real jagoff. I had not yet understood the bid increment yet and he canceled my order and gave me a red dot.
It's the only one I have.
If your buying:
You have to watch out for high ship fees, and ship time should be reasonable, like 7-10 days. If you pay with paypal, it is a secure system. They have ways to get your money back if your not happy.
If your a seller: I only sell a few items a year, so I ask for money orders and cashier's checks. If you sell alot, you can go with paypal but there is a monthly fee.

I think most of the folks are reputable and send you anything you purchase. Just do it on your credit card so if you don't receive the merchandise, your card will refund your money and go after the crook -- not you.

I did sell something on Ebay once that the dude never paid for! That made me really mad!
