I think we know what 'classic' means here, but just in case, I generally mean the rock era from about 1964 to around '81.
I won't list mine ...yet. :)

I would like to offer my opinion that the hair-band 80's were a vast musical wasteland, with the possible exception of Metallica!

If I had to pick just one it would be Lynyrd Skynyrd hands down... but if I could pick a few more it would be The Doors, The Allman brothers, the beatles if you consider that in this category
