They make sure you and baby are getting all the nutrients that you need. They fill in any "holes" in your diet.

They make sure that both you and your baby are getting all the nutrients that you both need. There are some vitamin deficiencies that can cause birth defects like Spina byfida. Prenatal vitamins can help prevent this. Also, developing babies will suck certain vitamins out of your body if you are not consuming enough of them (like the baby will suck the calcium out of your bones)..this can cause health problems and malnutrition in the mother.

In addition to being high in iron, calcium, and folic acid, which many pregnant women are deficient in, prenatal vitamins are specially tailored to a pregnant woman's needs.

If the iron is making you super constipated, ask your OB to prescribe the formula with a stool softener. Once I tried those, I didn't mind taking them anymore!

They do help with sleepiness, because it's caused during pregnancy by the baby stealing most of your iron (making you anemic). They also supplement the vitamins/minerals you need more of during pregnancy for your own health as well as the babies (ex: calcium).

I purely ever used the prescription, so i've got not got a sort call yet i comprehend that the main mandatory component is folic acid. something with a extreme quantity of folic acid is wonderful until you're specifically advised to take something. good success with the toddler making! :)

Ummm, they make you burps taste horrible, That's what I remember most! Seriously though, drink tons of water!! That will help with the constipation. I took my vitamins at night and that helped with the bad taste they give you. Good Luck!!

Prenatal vitamins keep your bones and body from being depleted while keeping the baby safe and healthy. The baby will get the nutrient that he/she needs while stealing it from your body. You can loose teeth and bone while pregnant, if you don't take good care of yourself and your body. They also keep deformities, illnesses, and growth of the baby in check.

They're almost exactly the same as regular vitamins EXCEPT that they have slightly more calcium and a LOT more iron in them.
