I kinda dug that melancholy animated character in Final Fantasy, but then again I'm here in the virtual world!

No.
It will always be in the blood of some people to want to act. People need this outlet and the public need to be "in contact" so to speak with real flesh and blood.
Acting is tough. No retakes on this one. It is altogether completely different than watching something on TV with "canned laughter", all make up, etc.
People like the contact and identify in a way with actors the sort you could never do on TV.
Audiences have an amazing capacity for acceptance and more than a few have deep respect for people who goof or kind of bare their souls in a way just a few meters away.
It is a magical experience that one cannot expect from watching the "tube". Here you have real flesh and blood in front of you, having to go deep down themselves to extract whatever feeling, sensation. Movements have to be a bit more amplified of course because after all it is not "close view".
Actors will not disappear. It is in the blood, once you get the bug.....you got it. Like being a writer, painter, anything really..

They entertain in a way that TV cannot. All PC ness is forgotten, souls are baren, sometimes even bodies are !! to some extent.
The audience identifies so easily with the actors in a way that no show on TV can achieve. Some people in the audience start to cry, laugh and feel emotions that could not be possible in front of your TV watching some stupid soap.
Actors in general - via all kinds of techniques - improv etc......actually represent real life and the complexity of human nature. Something that TV does not dare to approach in this PC world we are living now.
Some things are very very daring....Some movies reproduced in theater would/could never ever be as "real" as actors on scene.
People still flock theaters.
You get addicted after a while......there is magic, mystery..the unforgettable sense of actually seeing people displaying real feelings and wondering " is this true or is it fake ??"......that can't be achieved via the small screen.
It is fascinating for some people to see others displaying all kind of roles and identifying with them. It is gratifying to see someone else displaying your own dilemnas, inner battles....

What can I say ?? the world of theater is magic.

It will not disappear. People need to be people again in this crazy utopic world of "how to..be the best to be to......". Theater is in touch with reality than other media cannot.

The audience needs to feel human again once in a while and easily identify with the actors. They feel much much better afterwards..

And some people are just born to want to actors whether as a hobby or as a real job......but is is the same with writers and all " sky in the pie" type. People dream.

Once you start.........lots of people give up.....you either hate it or you love it. It is not for everybody.

The sense of drama, identifying with characters, personalities and playing them in front of people can be dead intimidating at first....after a while, you get hooked on like a drug.....

Actors ?? they will never disappear.......they might act later in their small corner if theaters do badly......but actors are actors. Many will never be famous or appear on the big screen, or small screen for that matter and most have other jobs besides to sustain themselves.

And who can beat improv actors ?? Those need a really sharp mind, quick reflexes and a vast knowledge.......not retakes here !

(tired......will add later)

PS: no adding this time......Yapped on for too long :-)

The time, patience, and attention to detail is just to much overtake real actors. There's so much that goes into every expression and movement for graphic characters.

You also lose the 'moment' that actors can have, making a good performace. Graphic characters are completely planned before hand. So you lose that to.

But as long as technology is around, I doubt graphic characters are leaving anytime soon. With FF movies, Pixel, and Lord of the Rings showing everyone what their capable of, they'll most likely gain their own nitch in the market instead of taking over real actors.

Even if the acting industry becomes computer generated (which I doubt it will), actors will still be required for their voices.

No. Animated movies have always been around, now they have a better sort of animation, but it's quite expensive. And you would lose star power. Also the actors still do the voices (so you could have star power there).
