When he can't take his eyes off you, and keeps trying to talk to you. I suppose it's like girls in some ways where girls might not give any hints at all (or their attempts to get you to notice them are terrible) and you just have to ask them. So I'd say unless it's obvious, you'd have to ask him.

generally, if he keeps trying to talk to you, if he seems different around you then he is otherwise, if he gets nervous or flustered or tongue-tied or all of the above easily around you, those are all signs. if you ask him if he likes you, he will probably try to blow it off, but if you persist will say yes

And looks at you with this look.
