Howcome black people blame thier poverty on slavery and have a culture of violence thats only keeping them down?

You have to realize theres something wrong, and theres problems no politicians want to address. Like racist mayour of New Orleans, Al shartpon, jesse jackson, etc..

Because they blame everyone else for their problems. Sharpton likes to falsely accuse people of crimes and racism but he is the biggest racist going. With people like him leading no wonder they are going nowhere.

I am black, did not grow up poor nor am I in poverty now. However, slavery has impacted my perspective. For example, if, for generations you are told that you are ugly, stupid and only fit to be a maid or janitor etc this is what you are going to think about yourselves. I am in my early thirties and remember seeing these images on Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny as a little girl. I however was fortunate enough to have parents and a family that were conditioned to value education as the key to self improvement. So those images were always balanced for me. Many Blacks, because of insane working hours, broken families, incarceration
(the challenge changes from generation to generation) didn't have anyone else there to provide another perspective of what their reality could be.

Another issue that strikes home for me is the whole situation with what to even call my self. Everyone else, including Africans refer to themselves as their native country and america(ie Irish american, French American, etc). I have been able to trace my European ancestry back to England. And when I look at how that happened it pisses me off. It never felt right that I was the color of caramel but only knew for sure that my ancestry was English. Slavery took that knowledge away from me and my family.

People don't tell Jews to get over the Holocaust, do they?
The plight of the descendant of the transatlantic slave trade is a very very difficult one. And really requires a discussion and not a simple response to a very complicated question. If you are truly interested in understanding and/or helping out engage others in this conversation. Take a second to walk a mile in a black man or woman's shoes before you become so quick to judge.

this entire country has a culture of violence.... it is all about class... if you are born into a low class there are not many oppurtunities for you to get out of it at the moment..... and katrina just showed the obvious lack of concern the government had for the people down there who were mostly poor but also black. if it was some place with rich people who are mostly white, because of population ratios things would of been very different.... So Nagan should be very angry and say what comes to mind as it has some truth to it...

I'm black and I don't blame my problems on whites, even though I have to put up with some of you're racist attitudes every single week of my life. And why can't whites give blacks the credit for all the inventions and contributions blacks have made to this nation. Its was blacks that build the southern economy.

Why do whites ignore their problems( Bush, KKK, Aryan Nations, CCC, SAW, Skin Heads, Cheney, Rice, Powell, David Duke, etc.). The vast majority of Sex Offenders, Child Molesters, Meth Addicts, Racists, Organized Crime Figures, Corrupt Politicians, Tyrannical Dictators, Child Molesting Clergyman, Polygamists, etc., are Whites. When are you going to face your problems???

Funny. Just funny.

Guess what, I just found out I'm black. I didn't realize this because I held myself responsible for my actions and I'm not on welfare. Oh my God, did you know that stereotypes AREN'T truthful? You probably didn't.

Ciao, Angelus.
