It's the small kind of activism I engage in all the time. This is why capitalism is so often linked with democracy - every choice a person makes can effect the greater whole, especially if enough people make that decision.

Suppose that nobody shopped at Wal-Mart because they disliked their practices. You can bet that Wal-Mart would chage fast or simply disappear. Now suppose that nobody got married until the nature of marriage was different. Either government laws regarding marriage would fade into obscurity as something else took their place or politicians, sensing the change in the wind, would make all the laws different. It's simply the way things work.

Mr Pitt is not saying that everyone else needs to take a stand like he does. He is simply saying that the institution of marriage, as it stands, has too many drawbacks for him personally. He even says that he'd be happy to get married if marriage wasn't so exclusive. It's as much about his own integrity as the institution as a whole. Why would you align yourself with something you disagree with?

And I tend to agree with him. People who get married are going along with the scheme to discriminate against those who want to get married but are not permitted. They're playing by the rules and supporting the system. Does marriage magically make a relationship better? Is it impossible to be committed to someone without marriage? I think the answer to both those questions is rather obviously no.

i think of it became into probable Ange's thought. an thought like that demands some distance too lots theory for Brad to have seen it. i think of that they are making an surprising factor. i'm no longer asserting anybody could get married in the event that they do no longer opt to, yet they rather could have the potion in the event that they opt to, opposite intercourse besides as comparable intercourse. in the united kingdom comparable intercourse couple are allowed to have criminal "civil partnership" at registery places of work. they don't seem to be allowed to call them marriages, for some reason, even although opposite intercourse couples who marry there are. this is probable some thing to ease the minds of those against it. yet "a rose by making use of anyother call, continues to be a rose." Why are Bush and his cronies so against gay human beings? what's it they are so frightened of? according to possibility if comparable intercourse marriage became into criminal in the U. S., Bush might opt to leave his spouse and marry his secret gay lover!

I admire their decision to not get married and why he is doing it. Rich and famous celebrities like them both could easily forget about what's outside of the rich and famous places that they go to. I think the actions he and Angelina have taken together to reveal to the mainstream society issues like world poverty, the GLBTQ community, among others, and that shows a certain humbleness to the type of activism that they do. Thanks for the support. I support them, and as long as they keep on doing this, I'll keep on watching their movies!

That's beautiful! I really appreciate that - those two are so in the spotlight all the time and in such a celebrity obsessed culture, people listen to them. I am thankful that they speak out and use their power for the good, whether it's helping hospitals in Africa or supporting gay rights.

I think he has a very inflated opinion of himself. He seems to think that everyone in America is so interested in whether or not he marries Angelina that our government will rush out and change our laws.

Or he's looking for a way out of marrying her.....

I congratulate him on his support of the GLBT community!!! He is showing his support in the most personal way he can, by denying himself something that we cannot do. As a celebrity, he is able to reach a lot of people, and he is obviously interested in using this power for the good of a community that needs support!

I don't give a crap what any rich Hollywood star says when it comes to anything political or what they think in general. They are so out of touch with what normal people go through on a day to day basis that their feel good save the world attitude does nothing but irritate me. I think everyone should be able to marry too, thats why I vote, I'd like to know if him and his equally odd wife ever go to the polls.

While I appreciate the sentiment and admire him for taking a stand (if that's really what he's doing), I'm not at all convinced that it will be an effective protest against current policies or create any pressure whatsoever for people to support a change of marriage laws.
