Celery! Hard and cold and can reach anywhere in the mouth. It's the best teether ever.
Ice cube tied up inside a baby sock.
Ice cube in a baby safe feeder.
Wet a washcloth and freeze it.
Keep a few metal spoons in the freezer to give him.
Hyland's Teething Tablets are the best if you want to give some kind of medication. They are homeopathic and work quickly. No worries about choking as they dissolve as soon as you put it in his mouth.

The best thing for immediate relief is Baby Orajel. But have you heard of Teething Tablets? They are homeopathic tablets that are perfectly harmless to babies but they soothe the discomfort. You can also give your baby 2-3 tablets a few times a day--and not worry about overdosing or anything. The brand i use is called Hyland's and most grocery stores carry them or check your local whole foods type store. here's their website: http://www.hylands.com/products/teething.php
When my baby was teething i also gave him an ice cube in one of those mesh fruit holders...you can get them at toys r us or babies r us. I think they even carry them at the grocery stores. That way the whole cube doesn't fall in his mouth and choke him. (only for a short time...otherwise it is too cold but it acts as a numbing agent)
I've never heard about green onions...doesn't seem right to me.
Another thing is if it is really bad, check w/ your nurse or doc, but you can try a bit of Infant Tylenol especially for over night.
In between what ever you're giving him, give him either a pacifier or a good teething toy and he'll just bite the pain away.
Good luck, i think teething sometimes also causes fever, so watch for that.
I have a 23 month old and i'm expecting twins so i need the refresher. Take care. :-)

Give your baby something to chew on. Make sure it's big enough so that he or she can't swallow it and that it can't break into small pieces. A wet washcloth placed in the freezer for 30 minutes makes a handy teething aid - just be sure to wash it after each use. Rubber teething rings are also good, but avoid the ones with liquid inside because they may break. If you use a teething ring, be sure to take it out of the freezer before it becomes rock hard - you don't want to bruise those already swollen gums!

Gently rubbing
your baby’s gums with
a clean finger, cool spoon,
or wet cloth can be soothing.
You can also give your
baby a teething ring or
pacifier to chew on.
Some teething rings
are made to be chilled.
This cool object against
his gums may feel good.
It may make him less fussy.
You don’t need to put any
kind of pain reliever on
his gums. These wash
away quickly and don’t
help much.
sorry never heard of using green onions

I don't know about green onions. You'd want to be sure he doesn't have any allergies, though, and I don't imagine he'd like the taste much.
Many teething rings are soft with fluid inside. The intention is that you put these in the freezer before you give them to the baby, and the cold helps to numb the pain.
If you get two or three, you can keep rotating them out to keep them cold.

there are countless organic cures for little ones you may want to objective, you may provide something chilly and confusing to chew on (teething rings, toys, face washers etc) or you may want to objective toddler panadol. a touch trick with the toddler panadol is to rub truly it into the gums besides, it truly is truly efficient - you've heard to weigh down a paracetomol pill onto the area once you've a toothache - properly similar ingredient. you may also develop the authentic of your babys cot so as that they are not napping flat, this allows the extra fluid to empty more desirable with out challenge from the area which helps to ease discomfort. different then that there is not any longer very much no longer something works one hundred% yet all or any are useful.

I've used frozen teething rings, teething tablets, baby orajel, and there's this little kit you can buy at Wal Mart that comes with different toothbrush like things for babies, one being a gums massager. Rubbing ice on your babies gums should help, also-just watch your fingers!!

Baby Tylenol if he starts to run a fever; otherwise, you can rub Orajel on his gums and offer him cold semi-soft chew toys for teething. My twins are teething and they will also take a pacifier when their gums are hurting.
