Yes, Walt was captured by the Others. Michael goes to find him, and encounters the Others. The Others tell him that he can have his son back, if he brings Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley to them. So he does, and yes he gets Walt back. They also give him a boat, and say that if he travels in one direction, he will eventually hit land. And that is where the Second Season left off.
I know that wasn't very detailed, but in a nutshell, that's what happend. :)

I missed a lot of episodes last season...seemed like they were always reruns when I turned them on. I don't think Walt is back yet though.
