if you also have $$, head to San Francisco. There is so much to do, see, eat, etc. in a relatively small area that also ok to do "touristy" stuff. And the views through out the city are great.

The trolleys, Lombard street, Coit Tower, the bay bridge, Haight Ashbury district, Downtown, Fisherman's wharf. AND Chinatown.

And I am a SoCal Dude. but I spent 4 days up in SF a few years back and I can't remember how we endded up doing so much in so little time.

Have fun, wherever you go.

The Dude.

I would say the Outer Banks, there is a lot of amazing things to do there. I myself enjoyed seeing the wild horses on Corova beach and visiting Jockey's Ridge. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants there and souvenir shops.

If you a beach lover like I am, I'd say drive along PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy) from LA - San Diego. It is so beautiful. I could be on any of those beaches everyday of my life. Best relaxing beautiful view in the US for me. Also the seafood is to die for as well.

I would highly recommend one of our nations national parks.
Choose one that is near where you are located, every one I have been to has been well worth the time and effort of seeing it.

Since I don't know what part of the country you are in, I won't recommend a specific one ... they are all terrific anyway.
