You really should try Dreft at least for the first few months. They also sell Dreft stain remover! After the baby's skin is not as sensitive, maybe you can start using Baby All if Dreft becomes too expensive (it is sort of pricey). They sell the huge bottles of Dreft at Babies R Us. But remember, you will only be using it on tiny little baby clothes so it will last longer. It is the safest and most gentle detergent for a newborn's skin. Ask any mom!! I just stopped buying it because of the price...i like to get a good deal. And also because my son is 2 and he can use Tide now. While using Dreft, i never had a problem with skin irritation or anything with my son!! Don't forget to also wash blankets, sheets, toys, your nursing bras and tops, towels--and anything that he or she will touch with bare skin--with that Dreft.
Good luck!! :-)

I really love the smell of Dreft but my babies had other ideas. The perfume in it was too much for them. We LOVE the baby formula of Method Detergent that you can find at Target. It still has that baby smell but is a gentler formula and worked great for us. I think it is really trial and error. Just pick one that you like and baby will let you know if they agree with you or not!

Dreft is great, but sooooo expensive. I recommend All Baby. I used that with my son since birth, and I've never had a problem. I switched to All Free and Clear when he was about 11 months old, b/c it was cheaper, and I've also had no problems with that.

I'm not sure of the name, but it comes in a white bottle with a pink top. You can get it at the regular store on the detergent aisle or go to like Babies R Us. I think it starts with a D...put I know its white with a pink top and has a woman and a baby on the front.
