It depends where you are. You didn't even specify a country, let alone a city. Or if you have room and board already payed for. If you do, you don't need much money at all. My parents give me $300 a month, but my family's pretty well off (for comparison, my sister is still in high school and gets $150 a month just to go shopping or whatever) and I can live on a lot less than that if I need to, but I have a board plan that covers whatever meals I eat on campus. I spent the summer in New York, and I could stretch that amount to cover food and whatever other expenses in one of the most expensive cities in the world. My friend in the UK got about £300 a month her first year at university, but she didn't have a board plan.
The point is that it depends on what your expenses are going to be, and how much money you or your parents can reasonably come up with. Sit down and try to figure out what you're going to need to pay for, and then add a little bit more to that if you can so you'll have a little wiggle room for unexpected costs.
Another thing is that I didn't include textbooks in that, but they're expensive. I generally spend about $500-700 a semester on books if I get as many of them as possible used.

I'm an international student studying in UK. Except 11 months' accomodation cost, I've already spent around 5000 pounds on food and travelling. UK is an expensive country. :(

.......Budget on £60 a week. On that figure you will have to tighten your belt. Get a part time job. Consider, if you you are working you are both saving money and meeting new people, especially n a bar. Good luck

Depends on where you are. More in the big cities, less in places like Indiana.
