An orange Corduroy jump suit. There was a big front pocket on the shirt with a hood that was too small and there were elastic bands on the ankles of the pants that were so tight, the pants were too long so there was a lot of extra fabric all bunched up..... the bottom of the shirt had a drawstring on it with too much slack left after it was tied....I'm talkin a nightmare outfit from he!!

Anything handed to me with the wish of a happy christmas. At least the trails are quiet that day so I can enjoy a decent hack out with the horses...

i've had two bad ones. the first was when my mom gave me a broken guitar for christmas. and to add insult to injury, the one i'd picked out and had shown her was not only a better guitar and of the style i desired but was cheaper as well. the second one was a doozy! my first wife asked me early on in the year about things i'd always wanted but never got as a kid, which was a train set. didn't think anything more about it. later on, here came christmas day. after all the presents were opened, her entire family (cousins and all) presented a final gift to me. they all stood around me and snapped a picture of me right when i opened it and realized what is was. i was totally mortified and immediately felt extremely childish. i almost cryed...out of embarassment. i set it aside and walked out. i couldn't take it. my wife was angry but her brother came to me and said what i did was ok. he knew it had bothered me and chastised his family for doing such a thing without thinking of what my feelings might be or how i'd react. it sat in my attic for a couple of years til my son was older and when he didn't pay any attention to it, i was elated and sold it.

A vacuum cleaner! I know it's supposed to be the thought that counts, but I hated that gift. It was from my husband who "thought" he was giving me a really great gift. It was years before I told him that I hated it and he said he could tell by the look on my face. I guess I don't hide my emotions well!
At least he tries a little harder now, LOVED the diamond earrings!!!

Candles... Everyone knows I don't burn them because I'm agraid I'll burn down the house (and now my only apartment rule is no open flames, so...no candles), yet I get at least one every year! I have to regift, because what am I going to do with millions of candles I won't burn!?! I saved a few handmade/special ones, but...

A purple and mustard houndstooth check sweater WITH a fake fur collar, size 16, from my husband. I accused him of having let his girlfriend pick it out, and I turned out to be right. (That girl he said he'd dumped two months before!)

Meanwhile, I HATE purple and checks (they were hideous, at least 3" across for each check), and I never wear froufrou like fur collars, and I was a size 8 at the time, thank you very much!

But I had the idea that marriage was for life, and I'm pretty damn stubborn! It took me 16 1/2 years to convince myself that, although I had made a bad mistake when I married him, it was an even worse mistake to STAY married to him. And I gave myself permission to fail at the marriage.
