I'm just looking for reasonable suggestions on how America might go about making up for it's transgressions and offenses.

By transgressions and offenses I mean primarily the causing of death and suffering of countless millions innocent people, the destruction of democracies and peaceful economies, the pillage of natural resources, the destruction of cultural treasures, the trampling of human rights, the significant contribution to global warming, the wasteful squandering of limited supplies of petroleum, the production and sale of WMD and conventional weapons to irresponsible governments, and the support of, and active involvement in, the formation of dictatorial governments around the world for many years... all with the singular purpose of increasing the wealth of people who probably have more money already than all of the people on Yahoo Answers combined.

I have no idea where we are going with Iraq considering we tore up the country and lead them into civil war.....we can't leave those poor people. Peace has to begin with each individual, including everyone in our government............it is never too late to start over, I pray.

Why should Americans be concerned with "getting right" with the rest of the world? The vast majority of the world doesn't care if they anger us. We will NEVER be able to satisfy most of the rest of the world, no matter what we do, how hard we try, or how much we apologize.
As long as we go back to minding our own business, I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about America and/or Americans.
I travel the world as part of my job; and no, I am not the stereotypical "Ugly American." There are more people overseas than you realize who think America is doing the right things.

I am not aware that America "has it wrong".

Perhaps you could be more specific as to what you believe are transgressions and offenses.

The United States welcomes more legal immigrants annually than the COMBINED number of immigrants legally admitted into all of the other countries of the world.

For such a bad country, a large percentile of the world's population just cannot wait to be a part of it.

We never will, so don't worry about it. What country has got it right with the world? Switzerland, Finland, Iceland? If we just remain neutral like they are and mind our own business and take care of our own, we'd still be ripped to shreds. Why bother trying to be liked by everybody?

who says we have to? Really, the worlds apathy makes it impossible for the US to sit back and watch as we did in WWI & WWII. If we don't do anything, much to the worlds ire, then who will. And why should we care what the world thinks of us? They've disliked us for years and do not need a reason to, one's as good as the next in their opinion.
