About 1 to 3 minutes to load all the drivers for a Live edition from a good CD (checked the MD5 SUM before burning?).

Issues I have found that stopped loading are
1. USB drives plugged into ports.
2. conflicting hardware in the computer. like two hard drives on one IDE cable, both set for the same position.
3. a CDrom that is on a cable with a hard drive (Never put a hard drive on the same cable with a CD or DVD!).
4. Attempting to boot from a secondary/slave CD drive, when the Primary/Master is the other CD/DVD.

Boot priorities cause the system to try to boot from the primary drive on the first IDE cable, then, the primary drive on the secondary IDE cable.

Also, please refer to the free forums in a search for your question, at http://ubuntu.org

HTH, and the Ubuntu 64 bit system, and all the apps., are awesome!

If you're willing to wait, they'll mail you a copy of each version. Your PC may already have some 32-bit software loaded, in which case you'll need THAT version. I don't know about the 64, but the 32-bit will load from boot as a liveCD. Burning it from an ISO can be tricky if you don't get a clean DL or if you don't set the right parameters. I have 2 bootable Knoppix5 CDs and 2 that work but won't boot, along with 3.3 CDs, 4.01DVDs and 5.01 DVD that all boot.
Of course, I'm assuming that your CPU and MoBo both have 64-bit capability..?

If you mean the step that says it's loading the kernel during bootup, it shouldn't take more than a few seconds. Sounds like a CD burn problem, or it doesn't match your hardware.
