All life is politics. Can't be avoided. Playing against (for example) Zimbabwe is a political decision. Not playing against them is also a political decision. So whatever you do you are being political.

Sad but true.

Cricket (via the Basil d'Oliveira affair) played a large role in bringing the Anti-Apartheid movement to the fore of public consciousness. Cricketers should be proud of that, not ashamed.
