Rendezvous sounds sexier, more secret and enticing. Liaison can mean other things, like, I am the liaison between my boss and some of his customers, but there ain't anything funny going on.

a rendezvous would be someone you meet at a certain time...
a liason would be a go between person that passes info from one to another
