I keep recieving emails that look like they would be from a friend of mine (also a yahoo user) but they are obviously not from her because in the "from" area it just lists her screen name, and I have her in my addressbook by her real name (which is what usually comes up when she sends an email.) When I open the email it has an attachment that my virus scan recognizes as a virus. I did some research and found that the emails come from an isp address belonging to a company that a different friend of mine works for. Who's computer is being hacked into and how do I get these emails to stop?

You friend has an infection that is doing this. I sends out email to people in her address book. Since others trust her they will click the link and get infected with the virus and the cycle will continue. You can see how thousands of computer can get infected in a very short time.

You friend need to run AV and AS scans. If she doesn't have these on her computer then have her go here and run the online scan..

Many of the infections that do this are Trojans. ewido is a very good Trojan remover. Have her download and run it.

Sounds like your friends computer has become severly infected and is automatically sending out spam to everyone in her address book without her knowledge. Google the word "botnet" for more infomation.

Her computer could probably use a complete malware scan .

Here is a good procedure that she can use that is 100% free.

1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido

3. Scan for ad/spyware and remove (free download) with Spybot Search & Destroy

Neither computer is being hacked. What may have happened is one of the computers have been cracked into. Let me make this clear, if one of the two computers were hacked, you wouldn't know it. Plus true hackers wouldn't have used a virus, they use knowledge and in-depth thinking, not Trojan horses, rabbits, worms, etc.

i assumed it is your friends computer that is being hacked. his computer must have been infected with a spyware program and that all email contacts in his list were sent this email. for as long as you dont open it and turn on your spamguard and if you want you can adjust the settings to delete those mails upon receipt.
