I got caught in that trap. I divorced my wife, got a girlfriend 20 years younger than myself, started night clubbing again, bought a sports car, dressed younger and dyed my hair. I got out of this phase after 2 years.

I always felt I failed in my twenties and that was that. Having a bit of an education in psychology I learned that there are, at the minimum, eight dualistic stages to human life having unique good and bad experiences to each stage.

Stage One Oral-Sensory: from birth to one, trust vs. mistrust, feeding;

Stage Two Muscular-Anal: 1-3 years, autonomy vs.doubt, toilet training;

Stage Three Locomotor: 3-6 years, initiative vs.inadequacy, independence;

Stage Four Latency: 6-12 years, industry vs.inferiority, school;

Stage Five Adolescence: 12-18 years, identity vs.confusion, peer relationships;

Stage Six Young Adulthood: 18-40 years, intimacy vs.isolation, love relationships;

Stage Seven Middle Adulthood: 40-65 years, generativity vs.stagnation, parenting;

Stage Eight Maturity: 65 years until death, integrity vs.despair, acceptance of one's life.

I wish I can afford a mid life crisis..but I would rather spend the money on my grandchildren. I think mid live crisis has something to do with inadequacy..and low self-esteem...I drink a lot of green ginseng tea...

I haven't reached that point yet. Something tells me I will go back to being wild and crazy since I was a party-girl in my teens and 20s and totally miss those days.

Bought a fast car.

Crashed my fast car.

Now I'm in debt up to my eye balls. ( Sorry about that, Granddaughter.)
