Had transmission repaired - completely rebuilt- same gear 2nd went out again. Now claiming that the drive shaft caused it this time and trying to get out of warranty. Truck F150 never shook -vabraited. Ran great - just as before 2nd gear went out! We think this is just a way around warranty. Why the same gear - won't that effect all. Besides there has not been any drive shaft problems or vibration or shaking?

Hmm, not really sure about the driveshaft shaking or vibrating the tranny to death. But if you do alot of towing, it is possible to destroy that tranny, if its not able to handle the loads. This is a 5 speed? Or automatic? I/m tending to believe that they are skimping out on you, and didn't even do anything to your truck, except get a junk transmission from their buddies at the junkyard. What year is your truck, and if its 4wd or what? Can look up service bulletins for you...If you'd like. Would need engine size, tranny type, and 4x4 or not. Good luck.

No. The most an unbalanced drive shaft would do is destroy the rear (trans) seal and leak fluid. I'm assuming it's an automatic. Be adamant about the warranty. Call the Ford area representative and tell them the problems you are having.

Ask them why they didn't replace the drive shaft during the first repair to get them flustered. Better yet, have them explain clearly how a drive shaft can kill 2nd gear.

could be the drive-shaft bearing. If they replaced the trans they should of checked or changed that too. If 2nd is gone its the trans something let go. Tell them either fix it or I will get it fixed elsewhere and see you in court. but be nice about it. don't start a fight they now whats wrong. If they don't let them know you also can put in a complaint with the attorney generals office. And see if the news would like a story here. then see what they have to say about your warranty. Hey My dad worked for borg-warner for 46 years and it took 15 years of quality work to run those adds about Ford quality # one remember those. They took that away when the Japs bought them out and took over. Think about that a while not to mention everything else the american employees lost when they took over.

You did not get your transmission repaired, just patched. .Take it back to the shop that did the "work" and be firm with the manager and/or owner. No satisfaction? Place an ad in the local newspaper and state exactly what happened. Just the facts. No conjecture. No guessing. No accusations. Businesses spend a ton of money to gain the public trust that can be damaged by the truth.

Sorry - but F-150 is very cheaply and shoddily made for a cheap price. When you bought it because the deal was too good to be true - you were suckered. It is touted as the "best" selling truck - but - people should be aware that Chevrolet/GMC Brand when added together is actually best seller and longest lasting truck brand. They are not discounted. Wonder why. Better construction and quality costs a little more. Ford is begining to face the problems of bad product at discount price and fighting to stay out of bankruptcy. Bypass dealer and go directly to ford and you may get waited on. Dealer has been told not to pay for anything as their home company (ford) is broke. Take them to small claims court.

The driveshaft would NEVER cause a gear to go bad, MAKE them warranty it, you should have at least a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. If the give you a hard time, report them to the B.A.R. (Bureau of automotive repair) 1800-952-5210.
