It’s most likely being caused by aldehydes which are created through improper combustion at the appliance burner, or improper venting of the appliance. Aldehyde emissions are produced by natural gas as well as propane, and again they are the result of a problem with the appliance or venting so get an HVAC professional to do a combustion analysis, and/or a gas pressure flow test of the suspect appliance.

Again this is the most common issue, and without more information your problem could stem from a number of other problems. But this is definitely a problem that should be addressed as soon as possible before any further use of the appliance.
