Right now I've already signed up for cross-country, part of the reason is because I was late for the soccer registration. Now, coach says as long as I attend 10 practices, I have be on the team, but I also want to keep running distance, at high speeds. So, how much would do players, on average, run (in distance) in a soccer practice?

in soccer practice, it depends. Usually you should have a light warmup jog which should take no longer than about 7-8 minutes. Then you stretch and start getting to ball touches. You then probbaly do some sprints or laps, and then you do some more stuff with the ball. You finish out with scrimmaging, which isn't really that bad.

I did cross-country last year and play in a Division 2 travel team (1 being best). I got much better endurance and speed. However, you don't have to run cross-country. I stopped this year and just run at home, and i've managed to keep my mile-time where it is and my endurance hasn't lost a beat.

Depends who competetive you are in soccer and how much you play at your position.

It depends upon your age, but if you are playing at the high school level, you should be able to run at an average speed for 90 minutes, the length of a game. Just be careful to build up your endurance and listen to your body's aches and pains, and don't over do it.

When you train for soccer, you won't have time to run so much during practice, but keep at it during the off season. You can also mix up your runs with sprints and various speeds to simulate a game.

Why do you want to play soccer? Why not just run? All you do in soccer is run around in cirlcles anyways! Soccer is about as exciting as watching the grass grow. . . which . . ironically is what fans end up doing at a soccer game because there is no action!
