Most students aren't serious about school all together.

Well, every time you buy something, you need math to know how much you're spending on maybe a sweater. English is basically needed for communication. It's true that you learn the same thing over and over again, but then you should be used to it by high school and it should be a bit easier to do your english and math in high school because you've been taught it over and over again.

These subjects wont necessarily will make you a better individual. It's what you decide to do to make yourself a better individual. School is probably what helps to guide you to being a better person after meeting different kinds of people and learning how to socialize and deal with life.

Preparing for college. English teaches you how to write essays and summaries that are probably quite important in college. Math probably helps in the subjects that REALLY need it. Some teachers for your classes help you to be more prepared for school by teaching you how to read on your own, and staying on task or just how to better prioritize. And over the years, I guess the teachers expect more out of your writing after the years because you should be getting better and better at it, as you said, you consistenly continue to learn the same thing over and over again. Just keep open-minded and see both sides of the equation before coming to a conclusion.

Let's examine your question in detail: "Especially if your"-MISSPELLED...it should be YOU'RE-"taking Regular Classes"-not PROPER NOUNS-"in High School,"-again NOT a proper noun-"you are still learning the same stuff your"-incorrect word choice...It should be YOU-"were being taught in middle school. How does that help you be a better individual, PERPARED"-MISSPELLED...it should be PREpared-"for college,-space-"and teaching your own children."-You ended a question with a PERIOD. Use of a question mark is usually done with an interrogative-that is another word for question.

Because quite a few students do not take their studies seriously. Parents need to be more involved. Make sure that home work is being done. That their kids are going to class etc.. My brother is a teacher at a high school. And he has told me many times that he believes that his students would do much better if there parents would get more involved. He said that not even half of the parents came to the last parent teacher conferences. As parents we are failing our children.

Because it's a waste. Students should be taught more on studies like "World Issues" that actually give them an eye opener into the world. I loved that class when I took it. English and math is just the same every year except that it gets harder. Students should be more educated on things that can actually help them understand the world around them. Unless you want to be a an engineer or a journalist, then taking these subjects throughout all of High school mandatorally will do you no good.

I say we bring spanking back to the schools. I was raised on it and learned quickly that I had to study. My son finished high school 4 or 5 years ago and did fine. The problem is, kids today don't know what they want and how school will affect them in the future. I have a couple of friends who are teachers and we got to talking a couple of months back. They agreed that most students, while capable of getting higher marks, did not want to. Teachers need to stop sugarcoating everything and raising the kids' self esteem so much. Real life just isn't like that.

We, as Americans are not only becoming the fatest Nation, but the dumbest. Our looks possess us. We are so pumped up about how we dress and how we look, we don't care about how we do in the classroom. It's a problem because if we were in a war, we would probably lose. The material you learn in highschool is similar to the work in Junior High, but it helps prep you for college.

My school is hard and challenges me every year. I learn so much yet I still make great grades. The public school system however is easy (I go to a college prep school) I don’t see how you can fail. I think it’s because kids just don’t have motivation. If I wasn’t going to college or going to do anything with my life then school would seem pretty pointless. I think if kids don’t see a future, then they won’t bear the present.

Like using question marks instead of periods...And run-on sentences.

American students are still failing because they're lazy. Plain and simple.

education in this country is not valued. there are too many students out there who'd rather 'put their thang down' than actually do schoolwork.

or may be the young people of america are just plain dumb. good thing we have asians here to help elevate the average scores nationwide.

Maybe because you DON'T learn the same stuff you learned in middle school? Ever think of that?
