Start charting your (BBT) temperatures. www.fertilityfriend.com is a good website to use.

Was this a OB/GYN, or a general practitioner? If it was your OB/Gyn and you are really interested in getting pregnant then he/she should start running blood tests to see why you are irregular. If he/she is unable or cannot start this then I would tell them that you want to be referred to a fertility specialist.
I have Poly cystic ovary syndrome, and so clomid won't work for me at all. I just wanted you to know that because most people just assume that they need to be put on clomid and then they will become pregnant, but sometimes it's not as easy as that. There are however other drugs that can be prescribed, but be sure to take the testing first so both you and your doctor know what exactly would be the right treatment for you.
Good Luck

i have had this problem since i got my period years ago (i am 31 now).
it took me 3 years to fall pregnant and that was after taking clomid and injectable fertility drugs which are supposed to bring ovulation on so you can time sex around the time you ovulate
none of these things worked for me and then after 3 years of trying i fell pregnant naturally
other than trying these fertility drugs or hvaing sex as frequently as possible i dont think there is much you can do - you could end up spending a fortune on those ovulation indicator tests and my specialist didnt recommend them for those with abnormal periods.
i hope it happens quicker for you than it did for me but you wll get there in the end....good luck

I highly recommend "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It teaches the Fertility Awareness Method which can allow you to know when you are fertile. Rather than using information from past cycles to predict future fertility, which would be difficult since you are irregular, it uses data from the current cycle to show when and if you're ovulating. You'll need to be prepared to take your basal body temperature each morning and pay attention to the quality of your cervical mucous during the day, but if you get pregnant, the payoff is probably worth it.

Take your internal temperature daily at the same time, your temperature increases usually one degree when ovulating. Chart and keep your records. Don't stress out..make love for the enjoyment of it not for the sole purpose of getting pregnant. Once you start doing it for the sake of it...it because a job not a pleasure.

Gurl I had the same problem before i had my daughter last summer, you what i did, right after i had my period me and my soon to be husband had sex like every night or every other night and i would either hand my head over the side of the bed and make sure my bottom half of my body was up in the air, or you can do the same thing in the bed, just push ya bottom half up in the air and hold it for like 20 mins at least and never pee after having sex at least try to wait until the morning to pee! Hope it works out fo ya! It did for me and one of my friends after i told her about it!

Did he check your hormone levels? I had to go on the pill to regulate my periods and I was on them for 3 months. I got pregnant 2 weeks after stopping them.

Contact a fertilty specialist. They can put you on drugs, like Clomid, that will stimulate ovulation. Oops, I think I misread your question!
