I think those goddamned reprobate republicans should keep their religious peccadilloes stashed in the closet with the rest of their porno magazines and sex toys. Hypocritical bastards!

I don't see it ever happening. America has always been a country with a secular government, and there are no indications that will change.
I have heard this claim from many Bush haters, claiming that the President is "too religious." What exactly is "too religious"? Are we only to allow atheists to run for political office? Will political candidates be required to give up all of their religious beliefs? Do you realize that in itself would be a violation of the Constitution?
Our country is doing fine. There have always been strong religious movements, but they've never become strong enough to change the Constitution, dissolve Congress, all state and local offices, and all courts -- and that is what it would take to make America a theocracy.

Not really. It seems to be going that way though especially here in the US South. Ten years ago the county I live in now wasn't even allowed to have MTV because it was seen as immoral. I've never been bothered by the fact that religion is so prominent here but I just hope it doesn't start controlling every aspect of our lives.

"i do not see people making a connection to Christians no longer permitting gay couples to get married in a mundane run authorities." Secularism isn't atheism. that's a communicate board that helps people of differing religions to have interplay with out one faith retaining precedence over others. faith isn't excluded from secularism. China, and atheist dictatorship, isn't a mundane united states because it excludes faith. those who ***** about Theocracies want to take a heritage lesson and keep in mind that international places heavily prompted with the help of Christianity are those that are the most secular. Atheists are LEECHES. reaping benefits from what Christianity produces, yet in no way generating something themselves.

That's pure bullshit. America is not going to be a theocracy, it stands for the exact opposite. Freedom. There's many cultures with many religions and no one religion would be able to rule the U.S. If you haven't noticed, Europe is a helluva lot more religious than the U.S. but nobody there fears a theocracy...Actually, countries have been ruled by the church in the past. The problem is that it was pretty much the same as a patriarchy...It's not happening.

What makes you assume America will become a theocracy? Let's also get this straight, just because you may be against abortion you are not an "ultra-conservative,
fundamentalist Christian". If you believe that crap then you must also believe that all Democrats are immoralist, and ultra left wing liberals. Sounds kind of stupid, doesn't it?

It would only be a return to its roots.
Most of the original colonies made reference to Christianity in their constitutions.
It will pass. America's moral barometer is really just a pendulum.
