Sometimes it is, Sometimes it isn't.

It is faster to tell someone they have bad grammar than to answer a serious or complex question. Same 2 points.

Some people really enjoy pointing out the mistakes of others.

Personally, I prefer to read ( and try to use, not always successfully) proper grammar and spelling, because it helps me understand the question. There really are some questions around here that I can't understand because they are so poorly written.

why do you have this grammar question under media and journalism?

to answer your question, sometimes some people might feel MORE inclined to correct ones grammar than to answer a question that makes no sense to them or is not that important to them. For instance, if I were to ask: why doe yo thinl my dog eat his own poop ol te time?

This question is pretty stupid and is not even worth me answering or even wasting my time to look it up for that person. AND it has misspellings all over the place...Since I am now annoyed by the question as WELL as by the grammar usage in this sentence, I would prefer to insult the person's intelligence than provide a well thought out answer. Why should I put my heart and should into answering such a retarded question when this person does not even have the common courtesy to spell his/ her words correctly and accurately???

If the question is asked not using proper grammar, it distracts from the importance of the question. It also reflects on the writer's sincerity and intellect. If the writer doesn't take the time to use correct grammar and good spelling, why should I take time to answer the question? I do not answer questions with words spelled incorrectly or with serious mistakes in grammar. If you don't use correct grammar, you are showing disrespect for the people reading your question, which means you won't, can't or couldn't care much about their answer.

Because your grammar errors get in the way of what you're trying to say. Questions with grammar errors make it seem like the person does not care enough to fix their own mistakes. If that's the case, why should someone respond?

At the very least, proper grammar shows that you are serious about soliciting an answer.

you know even for people that have been tough English in school,if you are like me if you don't use it you'll lose it and I'm 51,and at this point in my life,i could care less if my spelling is right or not,I'm just glad i can still put a sentence together, and thank God for spell check, don't let these people on here bother you....we aren't getting graded on what we write...tell them to get over their selves, and if they can't understand some of us may have some problems then,we should really mess with them and mess up all our spelling, let them try and decipher it,I have a muscle disorder and i am having test run now to see if i may have ms because I'm losing sight in one eye,and its difficult to write sometimes ,but most people don't care about that ,they just love to put people down, and whine and complain, and hurt someones feelings....well whiny butts.....here's a number for you to call..it's 1-800-waa-waaa

First of all there is spell check. People trying to understand and help answer questions find it difficult to give a good answer when you are trying to decipher what the heck you are trying to ask..
Get my point.

How do you expect people to take you seriously if you can't even formulate a proper, grammatically correct sentence?

If your grammar is bad we can't understand what your question is.
(Btw, you mispelled grammar and didn't capitalize the beginning of your sentence. ;) )
