both these terms confuse me and the way they are used. Nationality is the country you are born in, right? from what i researched Mexico is 60% mestizo (native american and spanish) 30%native american, 9%white, 1% other. How come Mexican Americans never mention they are of Native American descent, they usually just identify as Mexican rather than saying they are mestizos, native americans, or spaniards.

There are many ways to be a racist in the world. In Mexico people don like to refer to the origin of people because that would only raise a national hate between the conqueror (spanish people) and the conquered (native americans or indians).
Here in Mexico you can find a lot of discrimination but at the end it comes from the culture and the amount of money you have, however, the definition of Mexican nationallity includes the ethnics you appointed and at least other 80 ethnics, because Spanish conquerors did not killed or erradicated the native americans like in the USA. It does not matter at all who gives you the past if that difference brings segregation in your present. Te definition of mexican nationallity is not given by the color of the skin, but for the respect to the heros that built our nation, some of them were native americans like President Juarez, some were mestizo, like Hidalgo Priest, some were more Hispanic.
Beside, most Mexicans dont feel identified at all with Spanish uses or with american native uses. Mexicanity created its own uses, traditions, hopes and illutions.
