Sadly no. It flies on the capitol grounds beside a memorial to South Carolina's Confederate dead. An appropriate place to fly the battle flag, but there are still people who allow this to offend them.

Of course the state flag of Texas doesn't seem to bother them even though it was carried proudly into many a battle by the Confederate Texas Brigade. It flew proudly over many a Southern Victory.

The Confederate battle flag no longer flies over the State Capitol in Columbia, however it still flies on the grounds at the Confederate soldier's memorial.

It is a Confederate flag, not a "rebel" flag.

If people would read a bit about the history of it, they would realize the reason some fly it.

And no, it has nothing to do with slavery, for all you ignorant ,politically correct wanna be people.

Of course they were rebels. History has clearly marked them as rebels. They fit the definition perfectly, simply for wanting to secede from the union.

Political correctness has nothing to do with wrapping the Confederate cause up with slavery. Actual correctness does. There is no way to separate slavery from the causes of the Civil War. It may not have been the only cause, but it was big on the list. It's so obvious. You have to willfully ignore it to not see it.
