some people are so stupid and answer questions they know nothing about. I went to school for nails and this is what they are..... a waste product of your body. They consist of elements you consume but your body does not use. Calcium? just a little more so copper, gold, silver, magnesium, and keratin. Since they are a waste product they will grow after death until all of that matter is out of the system.

Our fingernails are basically made up of a hard, curved plate of keratin. Keratin is a protein that is also a main ingredient of hair and skin.

Nails are made of calcium...same as your teeth...skin is an organ.

Your nails are actually part of your bones it is calcium in your body. That is why when you die your hair and nails contiue to grow.

No, nails are "modified hair". Modified hair also takes credit for horns and antlers.
