"What hidden/untold secret is keeping you from being true to yourself?" I'm sticking with Philosophy. So, someone have a clue what the "Society and Culture" is about, besides secrets?

Because your question concerns individuals. Of course individuals are the components of societies and cultures, but most people interested in that category are interested in talking about things on a Macro level. What is the secret that keeps our entire society from being true to itself? Its that we prefer the myth of individualism over collectivism, when, of course, there needs to be a balance between the individual and the community. Our myth of the complete freedom of the individual is what leads to some of the disaffection and alienation that plagues modern western culture. What is the hidden secret that keeps me from being true to myself? It's that I'm not willing to admit my sins to myself. I admit them to other people but by doing so, try to turn them into a type of virtue, a virtue of honesty. Therefore, I never truly atone for the sin.

because the difinition of Philosophy is : the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct.

your question fits into that catagory easier then it does in society which is about groups of people who share the same culture, or form of civilization.
