Send me a message. I have put together almost 2 hours worth of video on how to speed up your windows XP computer.
It sells for $25, but I will send it to you for free if you would agree to give me feedback and a testimonial if you like it.

what version of windows are you running? If you are running windows 2000, your software is ancient and you should just buy a new computer since it comes with a newer version of window already on it. If your machine is 4 or 5 yrs old, just buy a new one.

ram is the way to go i have a 1gig in mine .
it all depends on what pc you are running.
i have 2.4 pentium
and 3.4 pentium both have a gig of ram and graphics cards.
2.4 had a problem running battle field 2 when it only had 500mb ram and it couldnt handle the sounds either so i slaped a sound card in it for 50 bucks and the game runs just as good as my 3.4

Go through your programs list. Really think about all the stuff thats on there and delete some of it. Erase cookies and saved internet files. And all that fancy RAM stuff the other people said.

Run disk defragment. Or compress your hard drive. If you have a PC--these are standard Windows utilities.

Buying more memory and/or reinstalling windows are probably the best ways for your money.
