**PLEASE no complaining about how much better mothers milk is! I know!! I did it with my first, but got too sick with my 2nd to do it & she was that odd one they tell you about in all the books that never made milk at all..

Any of the formulas work great as long as they have the ARA/DHA in them. This is the enzyme found in breastmilk that aids with brain development. My son was a preemie and I pumped milk for the 10 weeks he was on a feeding tube (I felt like a hefer on a dairy farm) and then he went on Parent's Choice (Walmart brand) when he came home and he is now 2 and he is super smart and has no delays.

I have always preferred Similac brand to all others. That is what I have used for both of my children. My pediatrician recommends this brand, because there are so many different formulas made by Similac, one for every problem that could come up. Similac is also cheaper than most of the other brands that you will find. Similac just changed all of their formulas to Advance, which means that they contain DHA & ARA that have been found to increase brain development in infants. Similac also makes a stage 2 formula for older babies that has a different vitamin supply especially designed for them.

My neice is on Good Start Supreme, and that has worked the best for her. This also comes highly recommended by pediatricians. I do not have any personal experience with this formula, but have seen what a difference it made for my niece.

Whatever you use, good luck! I hope you find the right formula to suit your personal needs. Just make sure you check with your peditrician before you change the formula to make sure your child is not a "special" case that involves certain restrictions like my son does. He is lactose intolerant and has severe reflux. Good luck again to you and your cousin!

All baby formulas are pretty much the same, however, look on the side label and see how much of all the vitamins they put in. That is the most expensive materials in formula. Though, they all have a pretty close amount. Usually the no-name brand over the long haul is just as good.

Well I like the Gerber as well. I only saw this brand in California though. When I moved back to Seattle they did not have it anywhere. I had to use Enfimil and my baby hated it. I had WIC so that is the one I was stuck with. She got use to it but man when she first started to drink it talk about projectile vomiting!!!!

Carnation Good Start is wonderful - however my twins did not do well on it and had to use Similac Isomil. Just look at price and what your baby can handle on its belly!
You sound like a great mother! Good luck to you!
If you aren't in a mother's group you should join one - you'd be an asset! MOPS is wonderful!

I've used Aptamil 1 2 and 3 by Milupa for my daughter. It worked really well and she used to grow as a boy.... Now she's 5.

They are pretty much all the same. None of them are even close to breasmilk.....there are too many components that just can't be duplicated. They have added DHA and ARA to some formulas now. That's really the main difference...which ones do and don't have it. (And personally, if you look at how they get the DHA in there, it's kinda gross!)

You at least know the source of mother's milk. You have to trust an unknown source for formula from another source. You have my sympathies.
