He was a medical Student who decided that killing rich people made poor people better off. So glad that worked in Cuba!

I agree that most people wearing his image have no idea what he did, what he stood for or what his beliefs created (I have lived in Cuba and the country has some good points but a lot of bad ones).

I actually think he had some good ideas, just a bad way of delivering his message. I personally don't believe in armed take overs of a country.

However his impact on world politics was and still is huge (nobody can argue Cuba is not a thorn in the USA's side).

I actually own a Che T-shirt and wear it with pride....

Che Guevara brought liberty to Cuba away from a corrupt military dictatorship and resistance to United States interference in Cuban political affairs. I think you need to go n bury ur head in a dictionary to find the definition of what exactly a 'degenerate' is.

Yes of course many people have no idea what he did and his image has become a fashion statement but don't make generalisations either, as on the other side of that their are many people (including myself) that ARE aware of what he did or who he was.

Most of them have heard the name and seen the iconic picture, but don't realise what he stood for. However, that doesn't bar him becoming a cultural icon. Personally, I think he was a man of principle, putting his life on the line and paying the ultimate price for what he believed in. If only some of today's cowardly politicians (Dubya, Bliar take note) gave their life for their principles the World would be a far safer and pleasanter place to reside in!
The statement above may imply, wrongly, that I believe the way that Che carried out his policies (violence is wrong, ALWAYS), but as a man he was without doubt, one to admire.

Haha part of my Degree research was based on the iconography of Che Guevera and how his actions aren't understood by the majority of pseudo supporters.

I completely agree with you! His face is a fashion icon.

I see quite a few, and they all know exactly who he was. He is on my refrigerator, my wife put him there, and we have a number of books written by/about/taken from speeches by him. I see the shirts for sale everywhere, his face shows up on signs in protests, he's all over the place

but then again I live in Argentina.

degenerate?

Though he has been labeled by some as a hero, opponents of Guevara, including most of the Cuban exile community and some refugees from other countries under communism, view him as a killer and terrorist. They claim that he ordered the execution of hundreds of people in Cuban prisons and peasants against the Cuban Revolution in the regions controlled or visited by his guerrilla forces. Guevara founded Cuba's forced labor camp system, establishing its first forced labor camp in Guanahacabibes to re-educate managers of state-owned enterprises who were guilty of various violations of "revolutionary ethics".[70] Many years after Guevara's death, Cuba's labor camp system was used to jail dissidents of the Revolution.

But hey, he was a revolutionary with a cause, so that's OK! But don't just read this, go to Wikipedia's entry. . .

what do u mean? what is the best Americans can look up to?
Bush? freaking warmongers who dropped atomic bombs and invaded countries to steal their natural resources?
I mean, Come on! many people may not have a clue of who he was, but Che Guevara was certainly much better than many American politicians

Che Guevara did what he could to help the impoverished and oppressed living in Latin America.

I have to disagree with you and say he is not a degenerate.

Most of them just like the way his name sounds. I think that less than 1 in 10 knows what and who he really was.

I think maybe 50% of the people who wear the T-shirt, have a button badge, poster know who he is....the rest....are doing it for fashion.
