ok. i know a lot about acting and i have more to discover, but i was wondering when do you get an acting agent. Like when do you know when to get one? i am very very serious about acting, & yes. When do i know ive done enough work, or how much work is expected of me to be reviewed by an agent.. Also if you have an agent what do agents exactly do besides assign you auditions?

Thank you so very much!

Oh Yes- and where can i find out where auditions are in for my age catagory in my area?- because my school is one and i don't know where else to look, i've tried google but non of them bearly state auditions for my age catagory-so does this mean i need an agent? i am very confused, so professional actors [[ones with agents,or who are very expierenced]]-need your help!

Thanks once again!

Contact the Screen Actors Guild and ask them for a list of franchised agents. They will sell you a list at a minimal cost and then you can contact all the legitimate agents and send them your pictures and resume. They will determine whether or not you are ready for an agent. Do not pay anyone anything! Remember, an agent works for you getting you auditions and makes a commission off the work you perform, they are not allowed to take any monies up front, nor should they charge you to refer you to a competent photographer. Also, try the publications Dramalogue, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter to stay abreast of what is being cast and developed. You should also try and find a nice Rabbi to help you

I do a lot of community theater, but I don't have an agent. I suggest you get very involved at your local community theater. I have been an intern at mine for two years now, and it really helps to get to know the people. If you are serious about theater get an agent as soon as you can. I know an 8 year old with an agent. You can also sign up to be on the mailing lists at your local theaters. They will send you info on auditions and shows. Contact them about your interest in getting involved. Community theaters are always looking for people who are dedicated.

When you are ready to compete against other working actors. The best thing for you to do is ask your acting teacher at school if you are ready for an agent and ask her for the names of agents. I don't think you are ready for one, but, if you want to try go ahead.
