If you want to use a picture of yourself (or any other pic for that matter) you must set up a Yahoo 360 page. From your 360 page you can import whatever picture you like. Check out my page:

If you want to altar your current Avatar, I can guide you to that. To post a real life pic, I have no clue, perhaps through the same way somewhere...
Got to My Q & A on the upper right of your main screen here in answers. Click it.
Click Edit My profile.
Then to the right will be your avatar, click Edit my Avatar. You can then change your current Avatar.
