If you are a boy, just cover the head with good old fashion Vaseline and rub away. Sufficient lubrication is the key. Without it, it could hurt and that's not what it is about. If a girl, lubrication still is the key and there are many more options a girl can take. Just experiment and do what feels the best.

With one or two fingers. At 12 it's probably not the best idea to be shoving things in there.
