Knock or Tapping noise? Tapping noise can be adjusted out providing the manufacturer has made provisions on your engine to adjust it. Some engines have adjustable rockers & some have puck adjusters (wafers).

Maybe, but you better know exactly what you're doing and the correct specifications for valve lash.
