I'm a music fan..period..hip hop head too,,but tired of defending these lyrics, these songs, these anthems..misogynist, woman hating, self hating, crime promoting bs...I used to listen to NWA and some other wild stuff, but it wasn't mainstream, and I had parents, a stable home, and looked at that stuff like it was a movie..These kids look up to a bunch of illiterate acting, drug promoting violence glorifying fools..It is backwards..It's almost as if we want to stay down...not all, but too many of us...racism is still rampant, and I know the majority of white america looks at us as a little lower on the evolution scale, but we can't help that. we can't worry about that..what are we doing for ourselves? George Bush don't care about black people? Black people don't care about black people..Slavery was the root of the issue, I know..we were damaged/econimically, socially, politcally..no traditon, little pride..but we gotta get over that. it's not our fault, but it's our responsibility.

Rappers will never stop as long as they are making money. They don't care about children. It's a parent's responsibility to monitor what their children are listening to and watching on TV.

It seems like we're all promoting misogyny and violence - white, black, Hispanic etc. We do it through music, movies, video games. I used to feel the way you do about rap music. Then I started paying attention to some older American folk music. "If you won't be my girl I'll drown you in the river" and such. Many of our horror movies consist of women being tortured and killed by knife wielding maniacs. I agree with you about rap music being violent and misogynistic. But as a white person, I also need to recognize that we have been doing it too for a real long time. So for me, I can't hold rap music against black people unless I want to be a hypocritical racist. And I try very hard not to do that.

You know what? I really like the way you think. I know I'm white but my 18 yr old son isn't all white. So when I hear people like you sticking up for their beliefs knowing that they're going against the grain. I myself do appreciate this.Plus I think any song no matter who makes it has a responsibility to our young people.
