in labor the baby is not really active- the uterus is contracting and pushing the baby down the birth canal. Usually movements slow down somewhat when labor is near.

There's less room for things like kicking, but you can still feel the baby shifting positions and trying to stretch.

baby can still move but between the squeeze of contractions and the size of baby by the time labour begins, movement is limited a bit.
