Sente, Violet, Scarlett and Kurt have spent the day hiking in the hills to the south of the city. One the way home they come across a rickety old bridge thats only strong enough for two of them to cross at the same time. The light is fading fast and so they need to use a flashlight everytime they make a crossing. The bridge is too long and narrow to throw the flashlight across, so someone will always have to carry it back and forth. Sente was injured earlier in the day and will take 10 minutes to cross the bridge, Scarlett can cross in 5 minutes, Kurt in 2 minutes and Violet in 1 minute. A storm is brewing and they cant waste any time. Kurt thinks for a moment and claims they can all cross the bridge in just 17 minutes, HOW?

Send Scarlett across with Sente..... 10 min
Kurt comes back with the torch..... 2 min
Kurt and Violet do the final crossing.. 2 min
Total 17 minutes...phew that took a while.

Violet and Sente should cross at the same time, shortening the total time, since she is the fastest, plus it would take less time for her to get back and forth. IN order, with violet escorting the others, Sente, Scarlett then Kurt.

scarlet goes with sente, in the 10 Min's it takes sente to get there scarlet has returned with the light. (10 Min's).
then violet goes with Kurt and in the 2 Min's it takes Kurt to get there violet has returned. (12 Min's).
finally Scarlett goes back with violet which takes a total of 5 minutes adding up to 17 minutes

I can get it done in 19 minutes, but, DARN!!, haven't been able to pare it down to 17.
