I am raised by catholics and very religious. But lately I have felt guilty because of something. Although I am attracted to my wife, I have started masturbating. Every weekend when she's doing her charity work for the parish, I sit back in my couch and 'help myself.' But last week, when I was masturbating, my mother-in- law was coming in through the back door. I had just ejaculated a few minutes before and didn't have time to clean up the semen on the couch. My mother took place on the very spot where my semen was. I was upstairs getting a towel out of the bathroom at that time. I was horrified when I saw my mother-in-law sitting on my sperm. I have prayed a lot and consulted a priest, but I'm not sure what to do. I feel like I cheated on my wife, like I had relations with my mother-in-law and I'm considering divorcing my wife and giving her all the belongings. How can I ever explain to our little boy that I had sex -in an indirect way, but still- with his grandmother?I feel so dirty.

You did not have sex with your mother-in-law unless you were thinking about her while you were "helping yourself". No foul. Of course, only God can say if masturbating is a sin. I really don't know. I never saw anything in the Bible that said it was. Only the thoughts you have during that time (and any other time) have been addressed in the Bible. Talk to your wife and see what she thinks. Divorce would only be multiplying any of the wrong. You say nothing to your little boy about it. It is none of his business and would only confuse him. Talk to God, and if He can forgive you, how can you not forgive yourself? Next time, use a towel and a more private place so this does not happen again. Say nothing to your mother-in-law. It may gross her out if you told her what she sat in.

You really need some confidence in yourself and your religon.
Masterbation is normal and not something to feel bad about. At least you arent out doing it with some woman that you could get some STD from and bring it home to your wife. Or even raping someone. Pleasing yourself is ok...
As for the mother in law thing... she just picked the wrong place to sit is all. There is no connection with you and her having entercourse that way or any way unless you actually were physical with her. Its a moral thing you know.
Divorce wont change the fact that you took care of a need you had and didnt force it on someone else but managed just fine on your own.
As for telling your kid, you dont! That is something best kept to ones self.
Even being catholic does not make masturbation illegal... hell, I was married to one for 13 and a half years and he did just fine without my help. Take it easy on yourself and say a few hale mary's and move on to the next time.
God is a forgiving being you know....

Oh grow up.

The masterbation issue: Maybe things are going a little subdued in the bedroom. Try a little romance, spicing things up a little! You know, bit of Barry White ;)

And no, don't divorce your wife! Are you mad. It's actually quite funny what happened, something straight out of American pie. Let me tell you something, cheating is something like going to your neighbour and having sex with her. Going to a prostetute, have gay sex in a toilet. Stuff like that. It's basically where both parties have consented in the sexual act. Your mother in law had no idea she was sitting on sperm, and even if she did that would no way make you a cheater? When you blew your load (and it's a bit disgusting not using a tissue i might add) you were nowhere near your M-I-L. You are being extremely paranoid, remember sex is the act of putting your thing in her thing.

You need to relax sir, and write a script and send it to warner brothers

Come on, how old are you? If you consulted a priest, what did he say?

You did not have sex with your mother-in-law in any way. Is it a sin? Don't know much about the catholic church, but I think that it believes in natural safe sex and you can't get any more safe than that!

However were you masturbating while thinking of your mother-in-law? Now for that you would surely go to HELL! Just kidding. Who am I to judge.

I dont think that that would be considered doing your mother-in-law. So dont feel guilty about that,it wasnt your fault and you didnt know she was gonna sit there, try to keep those activities in a bathroom with door locked. As far as being a sin,i imagine if you are thinking that you are having sex with another person this would be considered sindul by the bible but no worse than any others ,we all sin everyday,i suggest you talk to the Lord in prayer about this and if you still feel guilty, talk to your wife and tell her you were not thinkin of no one when this happened that you were aroused by her.You need to resolve this guilt, you could go to see a counseler or therapist.

Well isn't divorce frowned upon by the Catholic church? I don't know a guy who hasn't done that (well not the whole mother-in-law thing but the masterbation thing). If it will make you feel better tell your wife. Your wife/husband is supposed to be your best friend so she should be understanding and not judge you. If it makes you feel better let her read your question. She'll probably laugh too hard to be mad.

Good luck.

You did not commit a sin. You said, you talked to a priest, but never said what his comments were?

Sex is close physical intimate contact with another person, never did this happen in your case. You did not have sex with your mother-in-law.

The most that you have here is a possible embarassing moment with your mother-in-law if she ever finds out that she sat on your leftovers.... Her clothes have probably been washed by now, so it is something that I would not tell this to anyone.

You DID NOT have sex with your mother-in-law.
You may be an idiot but giving up on your life and your marriage won't help matters.
Sounds to me — a religious man — that you are overly religious. Religion does not exist to make you feel guilty for being stupid, but to give you the strength not to give in to your animal urges. Did you think of locking the doors? Doing it in your bedroom? That shows you it was stupidity that motivated you, not evil.
What you need is a professional marriage counselor.

You are being ridiculous, just cause she sat on you re load doesn't mean you had sex with her, wake up man. And no you didn't cheat on you re wife, and no you dont tell you re kid ****. Are kids dont need to know everything we've done in are lives, just the good stuff will do.And as for you re mother-in-law if she doesn't know what she sat in than oh well, let it go. And next time, shoot it on you re belly, that way you can take it with you, if you gotta run.
