There is a true story in our local paper today about a bloke convicted for having sex with a horse (Molly!).

Looking at it from the sperms point of view, it seems a bit rough:- I mean, out you go, into the big wide world and suddenly you must think; "hang on a second - this does not look right". Out comes the sperm-map and sure enough - nothing makes sense!!

Question is; do you still make for the egg (albeit horse egg) and if so - how far would the horse/human cross breed go before nature aborts?

Theoretically - could a half man, half horse be born??? After all, it work with lamas.................

No, the biology of the egg and the sperm are individual to the species. The human sperm would literally be unable to penetrate the horse ova. I learned this in my developmental biology class.

Also say you took the sperm and injected it into a horse ova, it probably would not be able to develope into an embryo, since so many chemicals are nessesary for the chromosomes to react right.

Even in the right species (human to human) it is estimated that possibly up to 70% of pregnancies self terminate before the women ever knows she is pregnant (i.e. misses a period etc.)

Primarily this is because if things don't go PERFECT with the sperm and the egg the thing is designed to self destruct rather than risk the life of the woman with a pregnancy.

It is probably such a high percent because the sperm and ova both have to be PERFECT to make a ideal mix, often this is not the case, one the other or both are genetically flawed due to and error in that one during the gametogensis process (sperm or egg making).

Of course every once in a while an imperfect union does not self destruct and does make it to term, but these are statistically very rare, considering all things. The statistical likelyhood of things like downs syndrome and the actual occurance in our population are pretty different, that is why they think so many pregnancies must self terminate before the women knows she is pregnant.

But to be clear it is physically impossible for a human sperm to fertilize a horse ova. Although Horse and donkey are able to create a sterile creature called a mule.

Likewise normally tigers and lions do not mate, but occasionally they do, and they are able to create an also sterile hybrid called a liger / or tigon.

The offspring of both these unions is STERILE (cannot be bred to create a third generation) Otherwise we would have to change the definition of the species of Horse & Donkey, and Lion & Tiger since one of the definitions to species is that they are able to create fertile offspring only within that group.

For example, dogs (including ALL breeds are a species), but foxes are a different species.

I hope that covers your question.

The following excerpts are from wikipedia on the subject of zoophilia...see the link for complete article.

Zoophilia, from the Greek Ζωο (zôon, "animal") and φιλία (philia, "friendship" or "love"), is a paraphilia, defined as an affinity or sexual attraction by a human to a (non-human) animal. Such individuals are called zoophiles. The more recent terms zoosexual and zoosexuality describe the full spectrum of human/animal orientation. A separate term, bestiality (more common in mainstream usage and frequently but incorrectly seen as a synonym), refers to human/animal sexual activity. To avoid confusion about the meaning of zoophilia — which may refer to the affinity/attraction, paraphilia, or sexual activity — this article uses zoophilia for the former, and zoosexual activity for the sexual act. The two terms are independent: not all sexual acts with animals are performed by zoophiles; and not all zoophiles are sexually interested in animals.

Health and Safety
There are a host of infections that are transmissible between animals and humans, as documented by the National Ag Safety Database and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). In particular, infections (known as zoonoses) such as Brucellosis can be transferred.

Pregnancy
Humans and other animals cannot impregnate one another. There have been speculations that humans and chimpanzees may be capable of cross-fertilization, thus producing a chuman, and that this did happen millions of years ago whilst apes and hominids were speciating (separating), but not one verified case has ever been shown in modern human history.

of course not. Obviously that guy is a pervert and an idiot, but no, there could not be offspring, or else they would (the man and the horse) be the same species, and clearly they are not. (that's the definition of a species).

No, there is no way a man could knock up a horse. Check your facts! The story is lame, no way possible. thx for the pts.

No, that's impossible. Even though he was enough of a pervert to have sex with a horse, it doesn't mean he could get her pregnant.

I think that the horses body would totally reject the sperm from the human.

No...evolution and nature does not allow too much variation on inter-special breeding. Genetic code would not be compatible.

Human sperm can't impregnate any other animal that we know of.
