Depending on your state tax law most prizes worth $1,000 or more have to be paid when you do your tax return

No legitimate lottery is going to ask for any money for you to claim your prize.

If they really need to collect fees.....it would be removed from your prize amount prior to giving it to you. (example.....taxes)

If some organization is telling you to give them money....chances are VERY GOOD that your dealing with a rip off artist. Don't ever send money or give out personal financial information!
