That is an excellent question. Actually there was no direct evidence to the contrary until a photograph of the earth from the moon showed this round disk floating in space. It was blue in color with white clouds and dirt colored land masses. But that only proved that the otherwise flat earth was round like a pancake.

The only evidence that it is round is deduced from changing shadow lengths, and that sort of evidence first was recorded by a g
Greek in Egypt who had two stakes of a known size and length placed vertically just so far into the sandy earth and one city in the north and another in the south at approximately the same time. Their shadows were measure at two different times by similar time measuring devices (maybe idenntical candels with rings about them to mark hours.)

Most people simply accept what they are told and if they don't they ar called all sorts of names so they sort of have to conform, but you seem like a free thinker.

I agree except that I think that the disk in the sky as seen from the Moon has twenty four sub -disks which are exactly one hour apart. At the endof the day there are twelve of them with sun shine in lesser and lesser amounts and another twelve with darknes in ever decreasing amounts. As the dark disks be come lighter every hour so to the lighted disks get darker.

A friend said to me that had they stayed on the moon long enough they would have seen how it is really only twelve disks and at the twelth hour they all rotate upside down. That accounts for the different hours of the day and the differences between north and south hemispheres.

Perhaps the reason the don't tell everyone this is that so long as people believe its usless to try to find the edge they won't try and that saves a lot of lives by discouriging all of the dolts from going so far that they fall off at the edge.

We all know that gravity works best from the middle of the circle. That is why when you climb up high you can see the circleall arround you. Not all the people know that is the edge of the earth, and that is good so they don't go too close and get draged over the the lack of gravity.

This is also the reason all of the compass instruments are round, like drops of water. Everything acts on the principle of the disc because it is the only one with our kind of life on it.

Someone told me once there was a society of people like us who suspected or knew this sort of truth, but I can't remember its name. Let me know if you learn of it. And don't be discouraged by all the non knowing nonbelieving

It's not flat. The theory of a flat earth was disproved hundreds of years ago.

Maby it is flat, I mean most of us couldn't actually go in to space and see for ourselves could we, and we've all been told its round but never seen it for ourselves. Apparently Paris Hilton going to check it out on Virgin Galactic for us but i think she's too unreliable and should be replaced

technically it could be, as the spherical shape of the earth can be broken down into innumerable really really tiny little straight lines, that when viewed over a distance give the impression of a curve, or it could just be my medication.
